Helping Those with a Fear of Heights…of Grocery Stores

Despite most of the community’s excitement about sprucing up their local Ralphs location, there has been a quiet and consistent vuvuzela-like buzz from a vocal minority who are concerned about the proposed Ralphs Fresh Fare’s height.  As you know, we have been working extensively with Councilman Koretz’s office throughout the past few months.  We, along with the Council Office want to ensure that the diversity of opinions in the community are heard and are responded to.  Based on our discussions with the Councilman, the Ralphs team has looked at ways to adjust the plans by lowering several sections and setting the project back from Ventura Blvd.

Lower Heights2As seen in the conceptual renderings (click to enlarge), the adjusted plans have a “wedding cake” design that sets the varying heights along Ventura Blvd. back to reduce the appearance of the scale of the building for those concerned.  In addition, at the Councilman’s requests, the Ralphs team was able to bring down the average height of the building along Ventura Blvd to below 30 ft.

Lower HeightsThese conceptual changes represent collaboration with the community and the Councilman’s office to make sure everyone has a say in this process and ensure the community is happy with their new Ralphs!  We want to assure everyone that the amenities and food offerings to be provided, the landscaping and street appeal, and the plans for at-grade parking remain unchanged.

This new street-front height-adjustment will be presented at the July 19th hearing and we need you all there!  Will you be there?

BE AT THE HEARING ON THE 19TH!  Being there will make the difference.
